The ForgeAhead African ICT Achievers Award Programme has, as one of its three elements, a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) component, which aims to facilitate the use of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) across all regions in Africa and all walks of life.
As part of this CSI section of the Awards, various partners sponsor prizes to the winners in the categories of their choice. The 2006 African Achievers Awards saw the Universal Services and Access Agency of South Africa (USAASA) sponsor 30 PC’, 10 each, to the winners of the categories; Top Youth Innovator in Africa, Top Educator in Africa and Top Civil Society in Africa.
The pre-requisite of the prize is that the winners must donate the computers to a charity or organisation of their choice where they believe the PCs will make a difference in bettering the lives of that specific community. The aim is to increase the reach of ICTs to the poorest of the poor and the most rural communities in Africa, assisting with the penetration of technology across the continent.

ForgeAhead greatly supports the concept of CSI and therefore felt it necessary to incorporate such a component within the Awards programme. The fact that the Awards is an African Awards programme, reaching across African borders, the company believes that unselfish donations such as these CSI prizes will truly assist in making this the century for Africa.
